Catching the Stable fly

The Stomoxycc trap consists of

  • A metal frame,
  • Black and blue attraction panels
  • A collect system
Following basic steps need to be followed to trap Stable flies.
  • Place the Stomoxycc trap in the area outdoors, where there is a lot of stable fly activity.
  • Assemble the trap, which will take app 10 to 15 minutes
  • Once set up, stable flies are attracted to the trap by the coloured attraction panels, which reflect the light.
  • When they get close, the light and heat produced by the trap draws them in.
  • Once inside the trap the flies are guided towards a centrally placed collect bin where escape is not an option.

The Stomoxycc trap is easy to set up and is maintenance free. No chemicals or additives are needed. All it takes is the periodic emptying of the collect bin.

An Effective, Selective and Green solution.

The Stomoxycc trap is not only effective against stable flies, but is also proven for use against the other species linked to livestock keeping such as Stomoxys niger and Stomoxys sitiens in Africa and in Asia and Stomoxys indicus in Asia.  It is effective against the well-known Tsetse fly commonly found in Africa, the cause of sleeping sickness.

The Stomoxycc trap offers control of an area of up to 1,000 m2.

For best results, it is important that if any stables are located nearby, an active larvae control programme is implemented. This is the likely fly breeding ground and source of the adult flies.

With an indoor larvae control programme in place, combined with the outdoor placement of Stomoxycc traps, an integrated pest management system is established. This will lead to the gradual elimination of Stomoxys calcitrans in the area.
